LIAS Seining Trip

Steve Abrams and Tracy Marcus are again volunteering their time and expertise in leading our seining trip this year.


Remember that you should have a tank set up ahead of time if you plan on keeping any tropicals that you catch.  Certain local fish are also allowed to be kept as long as they are not classified as a game fish or have a restriction on them.  The best way to get your catch home is in an aerated 5 gallon bucket.  Don't forget the cover!  You can power the air pump with an inexpensive DC to AC power converter.  Even if you don't plan on keeping anything it is a great day with a lot of fun.  Don't forget to bring drinks and suntan lotion.

Directions
Sunrise Hwy. east to Ex. 59, Wading River Rd. , while on the exit ramp make the first right turn (there is no sign but it’s Jerusalem Hollow Rd.) You will see Crystal Pond Villas on the left & Mirror Pond Villas’ entrance on the right. Go to the end of the road & make a left onto Moriches Middle Island Rd. A “flashing” school 30 MPH sign comes up quickly. After passing the school & the ball fields, you reach the traffic light @ Montauk Hwy. & Moriches Bypass. (At the light on the right is a sign that says 80 –Montauk Hwy.straight ahead) Cross over the bypass & get to the right hand side as the road is bearing to the left. Make a right after the Wendy’s & Waldbaum’s Shopping Center @ the light (Old Neck Road). When you get to the end the road makes a left, continue to the end & make a right to security gate & you will be admitted with a card by one of us at the gate.
