Meeting - Friday September 21, 2012 - 8:00 p.m.
Welcome to the beginning of a new season for LIAS! Our first meeting takes place on the eve of the autumnal equinox, Friday, September 21st @ 8pm in our new home located in Endeavour Hall, part of the SUNY Stony Brook’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences Bldg, Room 120. If you have not yet seen our new location, why not come and visit?
Coming soon is our annual seining trip on the Great South Bay. Why not plan on joining us and catch some marine specimens for your own tank.
This month is also our bowl show month and I hope you plan to enter some fish. Maybe your fish can place and win some ribbons!
Joining us this month is Guy Van Rossum, who comes to us from the Danbury Area Aquarium Society and will be offering us a presentation about his personal experiences with those colorful fish we all know and enjoy, namely, rainbow fish. I hope you all enjoyed your summer and are ready to begin sharing your hobbyist experiences! I am looking forward to seeing you all on September 21st.
Margaret Peterson, LIAS President
Guy Van Rossum - Rainbowfish
Guy has been keeping fish for over fifty years. He currently keeps 18 to 20 tanks depending on what he’s breeding. For the last 20 plus years he has had a special interest in rainbowfish, and he's excited about sharing his passion and knowledge of these colorful beauties with us.
Be sure to make this first meeting after our summer break, and feel free to bring guests. We’re always happy to welcome newcomers, including children. For more meeting information, see below.
